About the role
The Hardware Engineer Intern assists in the development, fabrication, debugging, and documenting of printed circuit boards for high-speed applications.
What you'll do
- Collect board inputs from validation, product, and IC design engineers to help define and sign off on Board Requirements Documents (BRD). - Create symbols for new components and capture schematics using Mentor's xDX Designer for power management, I2C, and SPI control circuits. - Create decals for new components using AutoCAD and Mentor's PADS, and assist with board layout in PADS. - Prepare documentation for PCB fabrication, assist in creating costed Bills of Materials, and update the components database. - Perform lab test verification of power circuits and low-speed communication, and assist in debugging board designs.
What you'll need
- Active enrollment in an engineering degree program. - Experience or coursework in schematic design and capture using tools such as Mentor's xDX Designer. - Familiarity with PCB layout tools such as Mentor's PADS and drafting tools like AutoCAD. - Knowledge of basic circuit design, including power management, I2C, and SPI control circuits. - Hands-on experience with lab test equipment for board-level verification and debugging.
