About the role
This role involves end-to-end ownership of the fiber development and production process, primarily focusing on Hollow-Core Photonic Crystal Fibers, which are critical components for ASML's advanced light sources.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of the fiber development and production process, including identifying problems, engineering solutions, sourcing materials, and testing.
- Contribute to stages of the fiber drawing process, from raw material characterization and preform assembly to fiber qualification and shipping.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and academic partners for clean room facilities and technical aspects.
- Integrate submodules in the tower line, utilizing basic mechanical, software, and electronics experience.
- Propose advanced manufacturing and diagnostic technologies to improve fiber yield and performance.
- Provide timely sufficient fiber material of the right quality, technical documentation, and troubleshoot issues.
What you'll need
- Master or Ph.D. degree in Material Science, Fiber Optics, or a similar technical field.
- 3-5 years relevant work experience.
- Hands-on experience with optical fibers, specialty fibers, or hollow-core fibers manufacturing.
- Experience with quality control of processes and advanced troubleshooting.
- Deep theoretical knowledge of the hollow-core fiber process.
- Affinity towards fine mechanical work and craftsmanship with glass.
- Basic mechanical design, software (MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW), and electronics knowledge for submodule integration.
- Experience with stock management, statistical/data analysis, and logistics.
- Ability to work in clean room areas and high-tech facilities.

- First line leadership experience.
- German language skills.
