About the role
The Facilities Mechanical Engineer supports Teradyne U.S. offices across building systems design and upgrades, operational continuity, project management, safety compliance, and efficiency optimization. Key systems under oversight include building envelope, structural, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, lighting, and building automation.
What you'll do
- Design, maintain, and optimize mechanical infrastructure including HVAC, process cooling water, compressed air, and fluid systems to ensure 24/7 operation. - Perform CAD modeling, design, and calculations for facility modifications, and oversee installation and commissioning of new or replacement equipment. - Prepare cost estimates, specifications, construction documents, project budgeting, and schedules. - Interface with vendors, contractors, and consultants to manage construction projects and service agreements. - Analyze equipment malfunctions, conduct root cause analyses, and support facility off-hour operational needs and emergency response to maximize equipment uptime. - Ensure all mechanical systems adhere to applicable building codes, fire codes (NFPA), and OSHA safety standards.
What you'll need
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - 5+ years of practical experience in facilities mechanical engineering, plant operation, and/or building construction. - Proficiency in HVAC systems, fluid systems, heat transfer, and building automation systems. - Advanced skills in CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation). - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
