About the role

KLA is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer (FPGA Firmware) to join the Broadband Plasma (BBP) team in Milpitas, CA. In this role, you will design FPGA firmware for optical inspection systems used in high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.

What you'll do

- Collaborate with hardware and embedded software engineers to design FPGA firmware for high-performance mixed-signal systems. - Define FPGA firmware requirement specifications and execute design projects from initial concept through production release. - Design test benches for simulation, perform timing analysis and timing closure, verify FPGA functionality, and write test scripts for validation. - Debug full-system integrations in tandem with hardware and software engineering teams. - Author technical documentation conforming to defined quality standards for manufacturing and service teams.

What you'll need

- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with complex FPGA firmware designs, backed by a Bachelor's degree (with 4 years of experience), a Master's degree (with 2 years of experience), or a Doctorate. - Proficiency with FPGA design tools such as Synplify, ISE, Vivado, or Quartus. - Familiarity with FPGA simulation tools such as VCS, ModelSim, or equivalent. - Proficiency with hardware description languages including VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog. - Understanding of FPGA timing analysis with the ability to resolve timing-related issues. - Hands-on experience with lab test equipment such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
