About the role

As a DSX Energy Engineer at NVIDIA in Santa Clara, CA, you will link engineering builds and standards with power producers, utilities, grid operators, and external partners. You will define technical requirements and strategies to deliver reliable, affordable, and scalable power for AI factories.

What you'll do

  • Build feedback loops with utilities, independent power producers, generation developers, transmission owners, RTOs, ISOs, EPC firms, and AI factory operators.
  • Translate energy development, interconnection, reliability, and commercial concerns into written requirements for DSX product management and engineering roadmaps.
  • Develop engineering strategies for behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter systems, including on-site generation, microgrids, battery energy storage, and utility-scale projects.
  • Lead technical workshops and architecture reviews to evaluate generation and interconnection options against site-specific requirements.
  • Support early-access and field-validation initiatives for DSX Energy capabilities, covering power-flexible operations, demand response, grid services, and workload-energy coordination.
  • Collaborate across DSX engineering, data center engineering, solution architecture, sustainability, and public policy to align technical specifications with product capabilities.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 12 or more years of experience in power generation, transmission, distribution, utility planning, energy project development, large-load interconnection, or energy systems engineering.
  • Deep technical knowledge of electric power systems from generation, transmission, and distribution down to substations, utility service, and large-load facilities.
  • Ability to evaluate rack-level load behavior back to the point of common coupling, including step load, transient response, ride-through, protection coordination, and harmonics.
  • Working familiarity with large-load data center electrical architecture, one-line diagrams, reference builds, basis-of-design documents, and equipment specifications.
  • Practical understanding of load-flow, short-circuit, stability, interconnection, transmission-capacity, and resource-adequacy studies, as well as RTO/ISO procedures and utility tariffs.
