About the role

This role drives Lumentum's network architecture, co-packaged optics (CPO), and systems strategy across compute fabrics, scale-up/scale-out topologies, front-end/back-end infrastructure, DCI, and long-haul networks. The position focuses specifically on expanding technology and product offerings within co-packaged optics across optical components, switching, transport, and modules.

What you'll do

- Own the Lumentum co-packaged optics strategy and hardware development program. - Work with external customers and internal stakeholders to drive adoption of differentiated CPO technology. - Map network architectures across long-haul, DCI, front-end, back-end, and compute fabrics with customers. - Drive roadmap alignment across network architecture and business units to connect technology and product development. - Work closely with executive leadership to evaluate emerging technologies and startups.

What you'll need

- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field. - 15+ years of experience in optics and network technology, including optical components, optical modules, and optical switches. - Direct experience with CPO hardware, ecosystem, supply chain, SiPh, and laser technology. - Experience with high-speed systems, system modeling, and connecting modeling to CPO technology challenges. - Experience with data communication protocols including Ethernet and PCIe. - Strong understanding of high-speed SerDes technology and modulation formats such as PAM4 and Coherent.
