About the role
Aeva Technologies is looking for a Director, Silicon Photonics Design to lead a core photonics engineering team across AI data centers, automotive, and industrial automation applications. The position oversees silicon photonics design, foundry tape-outs, and characterization for 4D LiDAR sensing products.
What you'll do
- Lead the design team to deliver silicon photonics across AI data centers, automotive, and industrial automation verticals. - Work closely with architecture, fab, and cross-functional design teams to deliver products on schedule. - Own the scoping of tape-outs to balance development milestones with product timelines and intercepts. - Own DFMEA of silicon photonics across various product lines. - Account for design-process interactions through direct understanding of the fab process. - Own the characterization of silicon photonics tape-outs with test and reliability plans, working with the test team to develop testing for new devices.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading design teams to deliver products. - Strong background designing photonics devices into foundries. - Experience delivering complex photonics circuits taking into account system constraints and interactions. - Experience completing full design, tape-out, and test cycles. - Experience with back reflection and stray light management strategies. - Experience in optical simulation software to evaluate optical designs, as well as qualifying high-volume photonics components.
