About the role
As Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations, you will be responsible for the entire IT and infrastructure ecosystem, including hybrid compute environments, design IP security, and development support systems. This role involves setting architecture direction for 12-24 months and managing major IT decisions like storage scaling and COLO expansion.
What you'll do
- Forecast and optimize infrastructure for compute-intensive EDA workloads, including RTL, verification, physical design, simulation, and tape-out.
- Manage Linux HPC environments, workload schedulers (LSF, Slurm), and large-scale shared storage.
- Own CI/CD at scale, including self-hosted runners, cross-compilation, build farms, container/artifact registries, and reproducible build environments.
- Architect and operate hybrid infrastructure across Azure, Google Cloud, AWS, on-prem servers, virtualization, storage, and networks.
- Stand up the program for protecting RTL, physical-design databases, and foundry data, including IAM, endpoint security, DLP, and encryption.
- Own IT OpEx and CapEx, cloud FinOps, vendor selection, contracts, and asset management, while leading and growing the IT team.
What you'll need
- 10+ years in IT infrastructure, including 5+ years leading infrastructure and operations teams.
- Experience scaling an IT environment through rapid organizational growth.
- Strong Linux and engineering-compute background with in-depth knowledge of at least one major cloud (Azure, GCP or AWS).
- Hands-on expertise in enterprise networking (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation) and enterprise storage, virtualization, and DR.
- Hands-on experience implementing IAM, MFA, endpoint management, logging, and enterprise security controls.
- A track record of building the operational layer: service desk, asset management, budgets, vendor contracts, and capacity planning.

How we counted: 973 open Infrastructure/Platform Software (Infrastructure Platform) roles from 85 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 15 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Software, Firmware & Systems family row.
