About the role
The Director, Global Commodity Management – Electronic & Optical Components leads strategic sourcing and supplier management for assigned electronic and optical component categories, focusing on suppliers headquartered in or managed from North America and Europe. The position owns commodity strategies and strategic supplier relationships across partners such as Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, and MACOM to support global manufacturing requirements.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute global commodity strategies for electronic and optical component categories aligned with business growth, product roadmaps, cost targets, and supply requirements. - Serve as the primary commercial relationship owner for strategic suppliers in North America and Europe, conducting business reviews covering cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and risk. - Lead negotiations for pricing, long-term agreements, capacity commitments, payment terms, and commercial conditions in partnership with Legal. - Partner with Engineering and business units on new product introduction (NPI), supplier qualification, and design-stage sourcing. - Coordinate supplier product change notifications (PCNs), end-of-life (EOL) notices, and obsolescence risks across Engineering, Quality, and Planning teams. - Mitigate supplier, capacity, geographic, financial, and single-source risks by developing alternative sourcing and business continuity plans.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience. - 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, global commodity management, procurement, or supplier management with ownership of complex supplier portfolios. - Demonstrated sourcing and supplier management experience in electronic components, semiconductors, optical components, or related high-technology manufacturing categories. - Track record of developing commodity strategies, negotiating commercial agreements, delivering cost reductions, and managing supply continuity risks. - Experience managing strategic suppliers in North America and/or Europe within a global manufacturing environment. - Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require.
Nice to have
- Experience spanning both electronic and optical component categories. - Experience managing analog, mixed-signal, RF, or optical component suppliers such as TI, ADI, MACOM, or comparable vendors. - Experience in optical communications, photonics, or data center infrastructure. - Experience supporting NPI, supplier qualification, capacity expansion, and PCN/EOL transitions. - Advanced degree or professional certification in supply chain, procurement, engineering, or business.
