About the role
This role oversees architecture, design, verification, and performance analysis for Digital Signal Processor (DSP) development for Mobile, Machine Learning, Automotive, IoT, and other products. It applies high-performance microprocessor design concepts including multi-core, multi-threaded, out-of-order, cache memory, high-speed ALU, and advanced low power design.
What you'll do
- Develop small well-defined blocks and assist in developing complex well-defined blocks, features, or tests that achieve power, performance, and timing standards. - Identify problems across multiple systems or subsystems and resolve architecture and design issues. - Participate in design reviews to ensure blocks meet specifications, performance, and power requirements. - Apply tools such as architectural simulators, digital design simulators, emulators, test generators, and design synthesis to evaluate design tradeoffs and verify correctness. - Track and document design changes, issues, and features while proposing minor design improvements.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of relevant engineering experience (or Master's with 1+ year, or PhD). - 2+ years of experience with high-performance microprocessor design. - Experience applying microprocessor design concepts including cache memory, multi-core, multi-threaded, out-of-order, and low power design.
Nice to have
- Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. - 2 years of experience with programming (e.g., C, Python), computer architecture, or embedded systems. - 2 years of experience in design verification methods. - 1 year of experience working in a large matrixed organization.

How we counted: 1081 open Digital/RTL Design (RTL Design) roles from 104 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 27 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Digital Design & Verification family row.
