About the role
The Device Modeling Engineer is responsible for the development, validation, and release of accurate device models and cells for silicon (Si) and wide-bandgap (WBG) power devices. The role bridges semiconductor device physics, characterization, and circuit-level simulation across power platforms.
What you'll do
- Develop, maintain, and release SPICE-level compact device models and libraries for Si and WBG (GaN) technologies across multiple voltage and power ranges. - Define and execute device characterization plans, performing electrical and thermal measurements to capture switching behavior, loss mechanisms, and parasitic effects. - Extract model parameters from measurement data and validate correlation across process corners, temperature extremes, and voltage conditions. - Perform device-level and circuit-level simulations to validate model accuracy against measured silicon data in collaboration with IC design teams. - Support technology development and new product introduction (NPI) by evaluating GaN and high-voltage power devices, failure analysis, and qualification activities. - Enhance modeling infrastructure, parameter extraction automation, version control, and documentation flows.
What you'll need
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (Ph.D. + 3+ years, M.S. + 6+ years, or B.S. + 8+ years) with a focus on semiconductor devices. - Direct experience in device modeling and model extraction for silicon and/or wide-bandgap (WBG) power technologies. - Working knowledge of semiconductor device physics, including device operation, parasitics, and switching behavior in Si and GaN. - Hands-on experience with high-voltage device characterization and electrical/thermal test systems. - Demonstrated proficiency with Cadence or equivalent simulation environments, including Spectre and SPICE. - Familiarity with compact modeling methodologies, electro-thermal modeling, and behavioral modeling for system simulation.
