About the role

As a Custom Memory Design Engineer, you will build custom memories to power an unconventional computing architecture. You will design custom SRAM and DRAM circuits across clean-sheet design, closure, tapeout, and silicon bring-up.

What you'll do

  • Lead the full custom RAM development cycle from architecture, methodology, and tooling to design and closure.
  • Design unique RAM circuits in SRAM and DRAM technologies, collaborating with silicon architecture, digital design, memory architects, and analog design engineers.
  • Develop or acquire RAM IP for use in Normal Silicon, including RAM PDKs.
  • Acquire or direct RAM design EDA tool development.
  • Support silicon bring-up, characterization, and tapeout.

What you'll need

  • Experience developing RAM IP from spec to GDSII in modern technologies, including tapeout and silicon bring-up.
  • Deep technical experience with memory technologies (SRAM, DRAM) at the core level, including bitcell arrays and peripheral circuits.
  • Experience designing and characterizing custom bitcells in schematic and layout.
  • Fluency in the Cadence flow, including Virtuoso, Spectre, Assembler, Extraction, Layout, HSMC, and Characterization.
  • Deep understanding of noise and variation and their impacts on silicon performance and reliability.

Nice to have

  • Experience leading, taping out, and bringing up CIM chips.
  • Experience in a chip measurement environment for debug and characterization.
  • Experience using AI and/or scripting languages such as Python or Perl to automate design flows and data post-processing.
