About the role
As a CPU Verification Engineer within Intel's Silicon Engineering Group, you will verify and validate processor designs alongside architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute comprehensive verification plans to validate CPU logic against architectural specifications. - Build scalable UVM-based testbenches and define functional coverage models. - Run system-level simulations to identify design bugs and ensure functional integrity. - Debug and root-cause issues in the pre-silicon environment, implementing corrective measures to resolve test failures. - Collaborate with CPU architects and RTL designers to verify architectural and microarchitectural features. - Maintain and improve verification infrastructure, methodologies, and flow automation.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree with 3+ years, Master's with 2+ years, or PhD with 6+ months of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field. - Expertise in SystemVerilog for developing UVM-based testbenches. - Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Perl for test automation and debugging. - Experience programming with C++ and developing validation strategies based on architectural insights. - Understanding of CPU architecture and microarchitecture fundamentals, including timing analysis and power optimization. - Experience in design verification, validation, or related semiconductor engineering roles with an emphasis on CPU architecture.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field. - Experience with Synopsys simulators (e.g., VCS), debug tools, and version control software such as GIT. - Familiarity with x86 architecture and assembly programming. - Knowledge of agile development methodologies.

How we counted: 1254 open Design Verification (Design Verification) roles from 96 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 26 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Digital Design & Verification family row.
