About the role
As a CPU Performance Modeling Architect in the CPU Performance Architecture group, you will contribute ideas for CPU performance features, model them, and work with the design team to productize high performance, low power CPUs.
What you'll do
- Write and maintain features and sections of the CPU architectural performance model. - Perform self-guided performance simulation studies of design alternatives. - Analyze workloads to identify performance bottlenecks and opportunities. - Work with RTL and design team members to assess implementation cost for new features and identify product improvements. - Collaborate with the performance team to maintain and improve the simulation environment.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of relevant engineering experience (or Master's degree and 1+ year, or PhD). - Proficiency in one or more areas of CPU architecture: fetch, decode, branch prediction, renaming, execute units, SIMD, load/store, MMU, caches, or retire. - Experience working with CPU architectural performance modeling and simulation.
Nice to have
- MS degree in Computer Architecture with 2 years of practical experience. - Strong CPU architecture and micro-architecture knowledge. - Experience working in a performance modeling environment. - Proficiency in C, C++, and scripting languages such as Perl or Python. - Knowledge of OS internals and compiler technology. - Knowledge and experience with common performance benchmarks and workloads.
Skills: CPU architecture, performance modeling, RISC-V, fetch, decode, branch prediction, renaming, execute units, SIMD, load/store, MMU, caches, retire, C/C++, Perl or Python
