About the role
AMD's Software and Solutions Team is seeking a Cloud Service Provider Architect to define and drive the technical architecture for modern data center solutions built on AMD technologies. The role focuses on architectures across compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and AI-enabled environments using AMD EPYC, Instinct, and Pensando platforms.
What you'll do
- Define reference architectures and technical solutions for modern data center and cloud deployments across compute, networking, storage, virtualization, orchestration, and software infrastructure. - Deliver hands-on software optimization for modern data center first-party properties in verticals such as databases, analytics, media & entertainment (M&E), or financial services industry (FSI). - Collaborate with customers, OEMs, cloud providers, ISVs, and open-source communities to translate workload requirements into optimized solution designs, proof-of-concepts, and deployment initiatives. - Partner with silicon architecture, software engineering, product management, and ecosystem teams to influence future platform capabilities and product roadmaps. - Analyze system performance, scalability, and reliability to recommend architectural improvements and optimization strategies across modern data center deployments. - Develop architectural best practices, deployment guidance, and reference designs while representing AMD at industry conferences, standards organizations, and technical forums.
What you'll need
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, along with industry experience in modern data center architecture, cloud infrastructure, or systems engineering. - Hands-on experience with software optimization for first-party properties in databases, analytics, M&E, or FSI. - Technical architecture background spanning compute, storage, networking, virtualization, operating systems, and modern application platforms. - Track record of translating workload requirements into scalable reference architectures and partnering with silicon and software engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Extensive experience designing modern data center, cloud, or hyperscale infrastructure solutions, including collaboration with OEMs, cloud service providers, and ISVs. - Understanding of x86 server architecture, virtualization technologies, Linux operating systems, containers, Kubernetes, and distributed systems. - Strong knowledge of networking, storage, security, and infrastructure automation technologies for modern data center environments. - Familiarity with performance engineering, workload characterization, and solution optimization for modern data center workloads.
