About the role
The Cloud Architect / Solution Design Engineer is responsible for designing, architecting, and advancing cloud-based platforms and engineering solutions supporting GlobalFoundries' worldwide Design Engineering, Software Engineering, and R&D organizations.
What you'll do
- Serve as a technical leader for AWS cloud architecture, platform engineering, automation, container orchestration, and developer enablement services.
- Design large-scale enterprise cloud environments, modern application platforms, DevOps ecosystems, CI/CD services, and cloud-native infrastructure.
- Translate business and engineering requirements into scalable reference architectures.
- Partner with Design Engineering, Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, SRE, and Operations teams to deliver secure, scalable, highly available, and automated solutions.
- Support organizations with 5,000+ users and enable global software engineering teams.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of enterprise IT experience.
- 5+ years designing large-scale AWS cloud solutions.
- Deep expertise with Kubernetes and container platforms.
- Strong Infrastructure-as-Code and automation experience.
- Experience designing platforms rather than simply administering them.
- Experience operating in highly regulated and security-conscious environments.
- Proficiency with AWS Platform Services including Amazon EKS, EC2, ECS/Fargate, S3, Route53, CloudFront, RDS, EFS, FSx, IAM, Lambda, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, Organizations, Control Tower.
- Expertise in Platform Engineering tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, GitOps, GitHub, GitLab, Perforce, Service Mesh.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible.
- Familiarity with CI/CD & Developer Platforms like GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, Cursor, Jenkins, Artifactory, JIRA, SonarQube, Backstage, HashiCorp Vault.
- Programming & Automation skills in Python, Bash/Shell, PowerShell, YAML, REST APIs.
