About the role
This role directs an engineering group responsible for all issues across a business unit product line, including the design, development, and implementation of complex engineering programs.
What you'll do
- Direct an engineering group responsible for design, development, and implementation of engineering programs.
- Initiate development and implementation of new approaches to engineering design and development at the business unit level.
- Develop long-range plans and create general engineering or product specific strategies.
- Interface with internal and external customers on engineering issues.
- Work with senior business group management to ensure programs, strategies, and processes address high value problems and align with organizational direction.
- Define performance metrics and report on engineering functions' progress against business unit goals.

- Broad and comprehensive understanding of different systems, theories and practices.
- Broad industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across a business unit, department or sub-functions.
- Ability to lead through subordinate managers of managers; execute segment/functional business plans and contribute to segment/functional strategy.
- Experience directing the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
- Ability to negotiate and influence opinions at the senior executive level and in external organizations.
