About the role
This role involves creating, testing, characterizing, and stressing custom mixed-signal ICs as part of the ATD technology qualification process.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with Process and BU stakeholders to develop characterization and test plans for early Process Technology nodes development.
- Develop ATE Test Hardware and Software for analog and mixed-signal prototypes to qualify advanced process technology nodes.
- Design Probe and Package ATE test hardware using Cadence Allegro tools for custom schematics and PCB layouts.
- Design HTOL (High Temperature Operating Life) evaluation application circuits (Burn in boards) and generate programs for bench evaluations and reliability stress testing.
- Perform silicon validation and characterization testing to report parametric performance and yield opportunities for improvement.
- Work with the Failure Analysis group to determine root causes of reliability and qualification failures.
What you'll need
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA or higher.
- Solid understanding of electrical components and their characteristics: Resistor, Capacitor, Inductor, Diode, Bipolar Transistor (BJT), Field Effect Transistor (FET), and Transmission Line.
- Solid understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits of their operation and analysis, including Digital Logic, Analog to Digital Converter (ADC), Digital to Analog Converter (DAC), OpAmp, LDO, Regulator, Current Mirror.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment for data taking or device debug/failure analysis, such as curve tracers, return loss analyzers, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers.
- Experience with bench testing of op-amps, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, mixed-signal circuits, and digital circuits.
- Experience with integrated circuit and device failure analysis.
- Programming skills for automation of bench characterization equipment, including C, C++, and Python.
- Knowledge of statistics and tools to analyze characterization data and determine production test limits and predict yield data.

How we counted: 37 open Product Engineering (Silicon Validation) roles from 17 employers tracked in the SemiconductorJobs index, counted 10 Oct 2026. Specialty figures count only roles carrying this exact specialty label, so an employer's related work in neighbouring specialties is not included there — it is counted in the wider Silicon Validation & Test family row.
