About the role
This role drives the definition and realization of photonic devices and system architectures aligned with customer and market needs within the Silicon Photonics Product Line. The position translates industry trends into executable architectures, device concepts, and development programs with paths to productization.
What you'll do
- Define and direct the roadmap for advanced photonic devices, building blocks, and subsystems aligned to business and customer requirements. - Translate system-level requirements into device-level and platform-level implementations that can be industrialized rapidly. - Collaborate with customer development teams, serving as a technical counterpart to customer architects to guide early system definitions. - Partner with gfLabs, silicon photonics development teams, and fab teams to align device designs with manufacturing yield, reliability, packaging, and test. - Track industry standards, trends, and competitive developments in photonics, AI interconnects, and optical systems to evaluate external innovations. - Mentor and support junior architects and engineers across the team.
What you'll need
- Advanced degree (PhD strongly preferred) in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field. - Deep expertise in photonic devices and integrated photonics, with an understanding of system-level implications. - Experience working across device, system, and manufacturing domains in a product-driven environment. - Demonstrated ability to engage directly with customers, partners, and executive stakeholders. - Track record of translating advanced technology concepts into product-relevant outcomes on aggressive timelines. - Ability to travel as needed.
